What We Do

The Clerk is responsible for maintaining the records of the circuit and county courts and employs a trained and qualified staff to carry out the many duties associated with this responsibility.

Until recently, the Clerk's employees were divided among three general categories and 18 divisions. In an effort to streamline processes and provide customers with more efficient service, several divisions were consolidated and a separate Trial Clerk division was created.  Employees are now divided among 15 divisions:

Maintains records in civil litigation where the monetary consideration is over $15,000 or where the litigation involves equitable matters that cannot be brought before the county court.

Handles small claims cases, where citizens may file lawsuits if the amount involved is $5,000 or less, as well as general civil litigation where the monetary consideration is $15,000 or less.

Community offices provide convenient locations for the public to pay traffic tickets and transact other traffic-related business, including reinstatement of a driver's license. Individuals can also apply for a marriage license, have a Deputy Clerk perform a marriage ceremony, file a County Civil claim, pay a misdemeanor fine, and or appear in court.

CAP Program

Oversees the finances of the Clerk's offices, including the Clerk's payroll.

Monitor payment of fines, court costs, and restitution for Traffic and Criminal (Felony and Misdemeanor) cases. View court dates

CAP stands for Clerk's Assistance Program. CAP allows an individual to obtain a valid driver's license while making payments on outstanding traffic citations.

Juvenile

Maintains records of matters involving persons under age 18. Juvenile records fall under strict confidentiality laws.

Probate/Mental Health

Probate



Mental Health

Manages cases involving the distribution of estates of deceased persons and the administration of guardianships.

Maintains the court's records when a person is involuntarily committed for treatment of a mental illness or substance abuse.

County Traffic

Processes Orange County civil and criminal traffic offenses, including the collection of traffic fines.

Provides service and support to the judges in their respective courtrooms.
