Application Process
Thank you for your interest in
employment with the Office of Lydia Gardner, Orange County Clerk of
Courts. The Orange County Clerk of Courts is a highly respected
professional government organization. We seek to hire the best and
brightest talent available. Most of our job opportunities are for
entry-level clerical positions including Deputy Clerk I and Trial
Clerk I.
Eligibility
A high school
diploma or equivalent is required for employment with the Orange
County Clerk of Courts. In addition, passing scores on
computer-based skills assessments are required for clerical
positions.
For entry-level
positions, including Deputy Clerk I, we prefer candidates with one
to two years of clerical experience. Starting pay for Deputy Clerk
I is $10.64 per hour. For Trial Clerk I, one to two years of legal
experience and or education is preferred. Starting pay for Trial
Clerk I is $11.69 per hour.
Applying for Positions
The Orange County Clerk
of Courts, Human Resources Division accepts applications for
employment when positions are advertised. Applicants must submit a
separate application for each position desired. Human Resources
must receive applications (including the No Smoker Affidavit) on or
before the position closing date to be considered. In addition,
passing scores for computer-based skills assessments must be on file
prior to the position closing date for clerical positions.
Submitting an application and passing the required skills
assessments does not guarantee an interview or employment. See
“Applicant Testing” below for more information on the computer-based
skills assessments, test center location and schedule.

Division accepts applications Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00
p.m., except holidays. Applications may be submitted to the Human

Applicant
Testing & Procedure
Applicant testing will be administered to individuals who have
submitted an employment application to the Clerk of Courts for a
currently advertised clerical position. A completed employment
application may be submitted to the Human Resources
representative upon arrival for a test session. Passing scores
on computer-based tests are required for clerical positions.
Computer-Based
Skills Assessments
Tests administered
for clerical positions such as Deputy Clerk and Trial Clerk
include the following:
Typing Test:
This test
measures keyboarding skills. A minimum score of 25 correct
words per minute is required.
Alpha and
Numeric Filing:
Alpha and Numeric
filing tests are administered. A minimum score of 70% is
required on each test.
Data Entry
Test:
A data entry test
will be administered. A minimum score of 5000 keystrokes per
hour is required.

Location and Directions
Please note:
The applicant
test center is located witin the LYNX administrative offices at 455 N. Garland Ave. Orlando, FL, 32801. It is not located in the Human Resources Division. Parking for the test center is available at the CENTROPLEX parking garage which is within walking distance of the LYNX administrative office or applicants can ride the free Lymmo shuttle to the office.
A
Human Resources representative will meet applicants at the main entrance, 455 N. Garland Ave. and take you to the testing room. Remember: Applicants must arrive 10 minutes
prior to test time desired. Applicants arriving late will be
asked to return for a future test date and time.

Application Status
You will be
notified if selected for an interview. Please note that Human
Resources is unable to give the status of your application by
phone due to the volume of applications received. |
Post-Employment Screenings
If you are selected for a position, a Human Resources
representative will contact you to make a contingent offer of
employment. All job offers with the Orange County Clerk of
Courts are contingent upon satisfactory completion of the
following:

Completion of employment application and No Smoker Affidavit
Ø
local, state and national criminal background and valid driver
license checks
Ø
employment and/or reference verification
Ø
physical examination including screening for the presence of
illegal narcotic substances
Ø
Other requirements shall be stated within the posted job
opportunity announcement.
Should you satisfactorily pass the post-employment screening
process, a Human Resources representative will confirm your hire
date.

Standards
Employment for the first six months will be on a probationary
basis.
Employee dress should reflect a positive image to customers
and visitors, and should promote employee safety. Clothing
should be businesslike, neat, clean and appropriate for the
work performed. Visible body piercing, other than ear
piercing, is not acceptable. |
