Inmate Scam Warning
We have been alerted to a new scam in which individuals contact family members of inmates and demand money for electronic monitoring or conditional release. These calls and messages are fraudulent.
Please remember:
- Our office will never request payment over the phone, through text, or through third parties.
- Do not send money, gift cards, or electronic payments to anyone claiming they are required for an inmate’s release or monitoring.
- If you receive a suspicious call or message, report it to law enforcement. If you are unsure whether the communication is legitimate, do not respond. Report it to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 407-836-HELP (4357).

Email, Jury Duty, and Payments Scams
The Orange County Clerk’s Office is also aware of recent phishing emails claiming the recipient is being sued for breach of contract and that a case has been filed in the “Florida County Circuit Court,” naming them as a defendant.
This is a scam. Never click on attachments from unknown senders, and never provide personal information in response to unsolicited emails.
Our Office Will NEVER Call You for a Payment
We are aware of fraudulent calls and emails from individuals impersonating Clerk’s Office employees to solicit payments. We will never harass you, threaten you with arrest, or demand payment related to jury duty.
Please remember:
- The Clerk’s Office will never contact you by phone or initiate an email asking you to send money or provide personal information.
- We do not process payments over the phone.
- If you receive a scam email, do not open any attachments.
- If you receive a suspicious phone call, document as much information as possible and report it to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office at 407-836-HELP (4357).
You may also report scams and suspicious communications to the Federal Trade Commission.
