Traffic Ticket Option 1: Pay Civil Penalty as Stated on Citation
When you elect this option, you agree to pay the civil penalty as stated on the back of your citation. You can also refer to the
Traffic Fine Chart to find the amount due.
When you elect to pay the civil penalty as stated on your citation:
Your case will be satisfied upon payment
The charge will be entered on your driving record as a conviction
Points will be assessed as applicable
Please Note: If you select this option you will not be allowed to elect the school option later.
Remember you must make your election within 30 calendar days of receiving a citation to avoid additional late fees and possible suspension of your driving privileges.
Payment Options
The Clerk of Courts offers several options for paying your traffic ticket (citation). You can conveniently pay using any of the following:
Forms of Payment
Accepted forms of payment vary based on payment option. Please see below for details.
Online: MasterCard, Visa, Discover and American Express
Mail: Personal check, money order, or cashier's check
In person: Cash, personal check, money order, cashier's check, MasterCard, Discover
and American Express*
Please Note:
- The Clerk's office charges a $3.99 fee for payments made with a credit card
- We do not accept Visa for payments made in person*
- Any document(s) received electronically by the Traffic Division after 5:00 pm Eastern Time will be time stamped the next business day
- Make checks payable to Orange County Clerk of Courts
Correction Defect (Unsafe Equipment)
If charged with F.S. 316.610, operating a motor vehicle in an unsafe condition or not properly equipped (F.S. 316-2935) you may, within 30 calendar days from the date the citation was issued:
Have the defect corrected
Pay a $4.00 fee to the local police or sheriff's office to have the correction certified with an Affidavit of Compliance (affidavit is on the back of the citation)
Mail or
deliver the Affidavit of Compliance along with the $94.00 fee to the Clerk's Office
No points will be assessed
Exception: F.S. 316-610 (Commercial Vehicles)
This option does not apply to violations of F.S. 316-610 by commercial motor vehicles or transit bus owned by a government entity.
Additional Documentation Required
On tag, registration, driver’s license and insurance violations, you must provide a copy of the valid item along with payment. If the item was valid at the time the citation was issued, the citation may be dismissed with a $10.00 fee. If the tag, registration, driver's license or insurance was not valid at the time of the citation, you will owe the statutory penalty as stated on the back of your citation along with a copy of the now valid item.
