Driver's License Reinstatement

All traffic citations must be paid in the county where they were issued.

The Clerk of Courts can only reinstate a driver's license that was suspended due to a traffic citation(s). If your driver's license is suspended for any reason other than a traffic citation(s), you must contact the DMV for reinstatement.

Examples of suspensions for reasons other than traffic citations include, but are not limited to:
  • Criminal traffic offenses
  • Failure to pay child support
  • Points suspension

D6 Clearance Letters
A D6 is a letter of satisfaction stating that all fines and obligations have been met relating to a driver's license suspension due to traffic violations. A D6 may be obtained online, via mail or in person once all outstanding traffic citation requirements are satisfied. A D6 Clearance Letter is required in order to reinstate a driver's license that has a pending or active suspension issued by the Clerk of Courts.

To reinstate a driver's license suspended due to traffic citations, you must:
  • Have complied with all outstanding traffic obligations
  • Bring D6 to one of the Clerk's five locations*
  • Pay a reinstatement fee

*Please refer to your Order of Suspension letter for the effective date of suspension. If prior to suspension effective date, you must contact DMV for reinstatement. On or after the effective suspension date, you may have driver's license reinstated by the Clerk of Courts.
