Request Social Security and Banking Numbers Removed From a
Court Record

The law allows anyone to request in writing the redaction of Social Security, banking or credit card numbers from their court records. Redaction refers to hiding the information from public view, though it would still be part of the court record. The request can be made by the person in question or their attorney or guardian.

If a redaction request is not made, any such numbers in a case would be available for public viewing, according to Florida law.

To request a redaction:
  • Sign a legibly written request (use this form) to include name, case number, document heading and page number (you cannot simply request an entire case file be redacted)
  • The request can be delivered in person, mailed or emailed to the Orange County Clerk of Courts
  • There is no fee for redaction
