Meet the Orange County Clerk of Courts Eddie Fernández

Eddie Fernández was sworn in Jan. 31 as the Orange County Clerk of Courts before a large gathering of judges, attorneys, elected officials, community leaders and Clerk’s Office employees.

Prior to being appointed to the position on Jan. 17 by Gov. Rick Scott, Fernández practiced law with Shutts & Bowen, LLP. He was also elected to the Orange County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Section Board of Directors.

“My priority is to be accessible,’’ Fernández, the first Hispanic Clerk of Court in this county, said in his comments after taking the oath. “To be accessible to the bench, the bar, the public and my deputy clerks. I want to know what I can do better. I want to know what the office can do better. I also want to know what we are doing great. There are a lot of things we do very well.”

Upon appointing Fernández, Orange County’s first Hispanic Clerk, Scott cited "Eddie's reputation as a problem-solver and respected member of the Orlando community.’’
