ECF Checklist
PREPARING THE DOCUMENT -- Please make sure:
- The document is titled in accordance with the Document Type
list selected from the Document Category.
- The attorney’s signature line contains s/Attorney’s
Typed Name
- Personal identifiers are not included in the document
- Any memorandum supporting or opposing a motion is a filed as
a separate document
- The document is not sealed or ex parte
CREATING THE PDF DOCUMENT -- Please make sure:
- If the document has been created using a word processor, it
must be printed to PDF format and NOT printed and scanned to create
the PDF filing
- The PDF file is not more than 4MB in size
- The PDF file is formatted properly and is legible with no missing
pages. All pages are in numerical order and properly positioned.
- A proposed order is a separate .doc or .wpd document
ELECTRONICALLY FILING THE DOCUMENT -- Please make sure:
- The name of the attorney logged into ECF must match the attorney’s
name on the signature line of the document[s] to be filed
- Verify the case number selected and the correct style of the
case appear at the top of the screen
- Choose the most accurate and appropriate title of the document
you are submitting. For a list of the Document Categories and
the Documents within the Categories select one of these two links:

If filing a Notice of Appearance, file a separate Notice of Appearance
for each attorney entering the case using that attorney’s
user name and password
- When filing a motion for leave to file a document, the subject
document is to be filed as an electronic attachment to the motion
and not as a separate entry
- You may use the descriptive text field only if additional information
is needed to further describe your pleading. The docket text you
are creating should accurately define the pleading being submitted
and please do not retype the entire title of the document in the
descriptive text field
- When filing a Notice of Change of Address, be sure to also
go to My Profile, My User Profile to make the necessary updates
on the Modify screen
- If a fee is required, it must be paid by using a credit card
or a previously established Escrow Account
- When using the “Browse” button to locate your PDF
document to file, highlight the PDF document, right mouse click
and select Open to take one last look at the document to verify
that all the information is accurate and that this is in fact
the document you wish to file.
- When you receive the NEF, save that document as an additional
receipt for the filing transaction. The bottom of the NEF will
tell you if there is anyone in the case that needs to be served
manually with a paper copy of the document.
